Intelligence drives the rise of new electronic components

With the development of downstream consumer electronic products towards lightness and intelligence, electronic components are also entering a new stage with new electronic components as the main body. The improvement of electronic components has changed from mainly meeting the miniaturization and new process requirements of the whole machine to mainly meeting the characteristic requirements put forward by the development of digital technology and microelectronics technology, and has entered a new stage of industrialization development.

According to insiders, new electronic components have the characteristics of high frequency, chip, miniaturization, thinness, low power consumption, fast response rate, high resolution, high precision, high power and modularization. In the trend of light, thin and miniaturization of electronic products, it drives the upgrading of printed circuit board (PCB) from rigidity to flexibility. Flexible circuit board (FPC) has the characteristics of lightweight, bendable, winding, foldable and high wiring density. The global consumer electronics manufacturing country has a huge demand for flexible circuit boards in China, and domestic flexible circuit board enterprises are ushering in rapid development. The reporter learned from Shangda electronics, a leading domestic flexible circuit board enterprise, that Shangda electronics began to enter the field of FPC in 2004. At present, it has become the main supplier of domestic panel manufacturers such as BOE, Tianma and Huaxing optoelectronics, as well as the supplier of domestic smartphone manufacturers such as Huawei, oppo and vivo. In 2016, the revenue of SHANGDA Electronics was about 1 billion yuan, which is expected to increase to 1.2 billion yuan this year.

Li Xiaohua, chairman of Shangda electronics, said that with the characteristics of light weight, thin thickness and good bending, flexible circuit board has become an indispensable component of consumer electronics products such as smart phones. At present, the demand for flexible circuit boards is growing every day. European, American and Japanese enterprises entered the FPC Industry 10 to 20 years earlier than domestic manufacturers. At present, their scale is much larger than that of domestic manufacturers. At present, the global annual market demand for flexible circuit boards is more than 10 billion US dollars, nearly 100 billion yuan, while the global market share of domestic enterprises is only about 10%, and the future prospect is broad.

Haitong Securities Research Report believes that although the global consumer electronics industry has entered a stable development period, the trend of technology upgrading is prominent, and technology is expected to further penetrate downward. Consumer electronics functional parts will take advantage of the trend of technology upgrading and penetration to show high growth in demand and types, and functional parts will benefit from industry adjustment and downstream product technology upgrading, Achieving large-scale performance has been the consensus of most people in the industry.

In the view of experts, China, as a major producer and consumer of electronic components, has accounted for more than 39% of the world's output of electronic components. Domestic manufacturers always keep up with the development trend, constantly improve their technical capacity and product quality, catch up with international advanced enterprises, and strive to shorten the gap, so as to better meet the demand for electronic components in the domestic market.

Accelerated localization of chips

China is the world's largest consumer market for electronic products, while the import of integrated circuits has increased year by year. Therefore, the government has spared no effort to promote the development of domestic integrated circuit industry in order to achieve self-sufficiency. In recent years, there have been many mergers and acquisitions in the global semiconductor industry. There are many Chinese capital participation. The transfer of IC industry to China Chinese mainland has become the consensus of the industry.

Relevant industrial clusters such as memory chips, compound semiconductors, artificial intelligence and the Internet of things have landed one after another.

With the introduction and mass production of several new wafer factories, regional integrated circuit industry clusters begin to run on the track. The strong rise of China's semiconductor industry will drive more business opportunities. At the same time, local equipment and material manufacturers will also benefit from this wave of development. At present, the world's top three smartphone manufacturers and five large and medium-sized high-end mobile phone chip suppliers have provided and adopted chips and application kits with artificial intelligence acceleration function. Lin Jianhong, research manager of Tuopu Industry Research Institute under Jibang consulting, believes that the most important impact on the development of semiconductor industry in 2018 is the impact of artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence is affecting the semiconductor industry from two different paths. On the one hand, it is sales opportunities, including new applications, bringing new products and technologies, such as more sensors, mathematical accelerators, storage units and communication capabilities, implementing services, building communication backbone, and upgrading data centers and servers at the same time; On the other hand, from the perspective of artificial intelligence introduction or industry 4.0, the new production mode is reshaping the definition of "effective capacity" by semiconductor companies.

Hu Xiangjun, head of strategy, market and Development Department of Huahong Hongli, enterprise representative of Shanghai in the 92nd China Electronics Exhibition, said that in recent years, due to the strong support of national and local government industries, the output value of domestic IC design enterprises has increased rapidly. For example, in 2016, the growth even exceeded 25%. The production capacity and manufacturing technology of pure wafer OEM enterprises in China are far lower than those in other regions, especially in advanced manufacturing processes. It is necessary to vigorously develop wafer manufacturing technology through government policies and increase capacity expansion, so as to meet the needs of integrated circuit design companies at home and abroad. For semiconductor manufacturers, it is necessary to deeply cultivate technology, focus on hot applications, and continuously develop the road of differentiated independent innovation.

The application hotspot has shifted, and automotive electronics has become a hot spot

In recent years, the application hotspot of electronic information industry has expanded from the initial computer and communication to the fields of Internet of things hardware products and automotive electronics, especially the rapid development of intelligent networked vehicles, which has brought new development opportunities for sensors, MCU (micro control unit), laser equipment, infrared equipment, radar equipment, GPS and other industries.

Experts pointed out that with the increasing variety and quantity of sensors required by automotive electronics, manufacturers must continue to develop new, high-precision, high reliability, low-cost and intelligent sensors; With the increasing proportion of automotive electronics in the whole vehicle, the application of MCU in the automotive field will exceed that in the field of household appliances and communication, and become the largest MCU application field in the world; As the vehicle needs to accurately perceive the surrounding state and form feedback to the environment, processing devices such as laser, infrared and radar are becoming more and more advanced; In addition, the application of data bus technology will become more and more popular as the Internet of vehicles needs to transmit and exchange a large amount of data.

Gartland microelectronics, a local integrated circuit designer, announced the mass production of 77GHz CMOS millimeter wave radar chips, locking in China's huge auto driving radar sensing market. Chen Jiashu, CEO of Gartland microelectronics, said that China, as the world's largest automobile market, the market scale of on-board millimeter wave radar is expected to reach about 40 billion yuan. However, in the field of millimeter wave radar chips, most of them are controlled and supplied by NXP, Infineon and other international manufacturers. With the introduction of domestic CMOS millimeter wave radar chips, the long-term market monopoly of European and American manufacturers has been successfully broken.

At present, driven by cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, 5g communication and Internet of vehicles, intelligent vehicles have become another tuyere after electric vehicles. In view of this, many well-known automotive electronics manufacturers at home and abroad have focused on launching their intelligent vehicle series products.

Experts believe that China's auto market will maintain steady growth, coupled with differentiated and diversified consumer demand, and the continuous emergence of new technology applications and new models, providing huge development space for China's auto electronics enterprises. Under the push of China's independent innovation and improving the self-sufficiency rate of domestic design chips, more and more local automotive electronics manufacturers will step into the local automotive industry chain and play an important role in the future.
